The Jackson Mfg. 0o, are this week
moving into their new factory. on
West street, an a visit there reveale
the fact that they have, one of the
most up-to-date buildings of this kind
in Canada, and is lame enough to
accommcidete over 100 empileyees. The
building was erected by Dr Taylor,
of Goderich, and is a credit to the
doctor in putting in all the modern
conveniences and malting it 89 coke
foetable for the eninloyees of this
firm. The main -floor, 30x12.5. feet,
and will be used as the operating
room, while the basement the same'
size will be used as stock and ship -
I ping room. The building is steam
heated and lighted by electricity, and
their machines and irons are also run
by electricity.
The firmcoramenced a. branch of
their Clinton business here just one
year ago, owing ta the fact that they
were unable to get sufficient hel in
Pinon or
their business, and they now report
being Well satisfied with their, move
and find no difficulty in getting plenty
of help 'here, and it their intention
to further- extend this Goderich
branch, as the present move suggests.
While they employ mostly. female
help it is just the kind of -en. industry
we need to give irnployment to the
girls of town. They manufacture
nothing but boys'. clothing, and the
fact that they turn out over 4000 pairs
of boys' knickers and over 400 boys'
suits every week, shows that they are
getting after the Canadian boys and
that they Must naake aela,se of „goods
thateint these boys. •
The firm consists of Messrs. William
and Thomas Jackson both thorough,
practical Men, who understimd this
business in all details. This Goderich
