Humphrey, others win turkey at Kinsmen bingo
Pulling ahead
Five-year-old Skylar Moffatt enjoyed a night of fun and
games at the Belgrave Kinsmen turkey bingo at the
Belgrave Community Centre on Dec. 1. While Moffatt didn't
earn any of the kids' winnings throughout the evening, she
had a smile on her face while she played. (Vicky Bremner photo)
the second Sunday of Advent.
Student Minister Brian Hymers
welcomed the congregation and lit
the Christ Candle in the hope of
finding true peace through Christ's
support and guidance. Muriel
Coultes and Mackenzie Wightman
did the reading on the candle of
Peace and lit the candle and the
congregation sang verses one and
two of "A Candle is Burning". After
the gathering prayer, the welcoming
hymn "All Earth is Waiting" was
sung.
Doug Walker reported that the
church had sent $18,000 to the
Canadian Foodgrains Bank. Nancy

Sunday, Dec. 4,
Jardin mentioned that the items Envelope Sunday to support the
collected had been taken in for the
Christmas Bureau. We sang "Happy
Birthday" to Brian's sister Brenda.
After the call to worship read
responsively, the choir sang, directed
by Kae MacKendrie, the new
organist and choir director.
Mackenzie Wightman
accompanied on the piano for the
children's hymn, "Jesus Our
Brother". The children gathered in
the front pew for story time.
Brian asked the children what
peace meant to them. The meaning
of peace: calm, stillness, quiet,
repose, freedom from disturbance,
war or hostilities.
The special meal for Communion
Sunday symbolizes the body and
blood of Jesus. When we have Jesus
in our hearts, we really feel the
peace. After prayer, the children
adjourned to Sunday school.
Kendra Robinson read scripture
from Isaiah 11 verses 1-10, Psalm 72
read responsively with the
congregation and Romans 15 verses
4-13.
We experience the presence of
God in our world and all the
blessings that God gives us. What is
different today than it was in the
past? Are we different than
worshippers years ago? With all the
technology times have changed. We
should all be equal. God knows the
world is full of corruption because it
is being run by the citizens. Peace of
Christ is always with us. "On
Jordan's Banks" was the hymn of
response.
Nancy Jardin reported on the
minute for the missions. Larry
Harper and Doug Walker took up the
offering, which was dedicated. Kae
sang a selection while the offering
was collected. The closing hymn
"Love, Divine, All Loves
Excelling", benediction and blessing
and "Go Now in Peace" concluded
the morning worship service.
