Hall receives funding from entertainment night
A great night for Walton
Graeme Craig and Rick Mclnroy held their annual night of entertainment and fundraising for
the community on Sunday, which resulted in cheques for over $650 for both the Walton
Women's Institute and the Walton Hall Board. Craig and Mclnroy provided the entertainment
for the evening, while the WI prepared the meal and the Hall Board helped with coffee and tea
and dishes, among other things. From left: Graeme Craig, Margaret Mclnroy, Walton WI

believe, but it is only five weeks until
Christmas. Santa Claus parades,
holiday tunes, decorations — lots of
people shopping. And then the
weather turned ugly. Later Saturday
the winds started to howl, snow
started to fall, roads began to get
slippery and winter came upon us
with a bang. Sunday was not any
better with more snow and winds
and slippery roads. I heard that the
tow trucks were kept very busy
The great weather last week had Sunday starting at 6 a.m. and going
many folks getting their Christmas steadily all day.
decorations up outside. It is hard to We had a couple come into our
place to get warm and to wait
for a ride to pick them up, after
going in the ditch. Good thing,
because it was a couple of hours
later before the vehicle was towed
out of the ditch. What a way to start
the winter!
The Walton Hall and the Walton
Women's Institute received a much -
appreciated financial boost on
Sunday evening. The Institute
Ladies, all six of them — Margaret
McInroy, Ruth Axtmann, Marjory
Humphries, Brenda Perrie, Helen
Craig and Dianne Godkin — filling in
for her mother Marion Godkin —
prepared the delicious turkey dinner
for approximately 75 people.
Members of the Hall Board did the
set up, poured tea and coffee, did the
dishes and the cleanup. Hall Board
members included Judy Lee, Jo -Ann
McDonald, Judy Emmrich and extra
helper Karen Hoegy. Following the
meal, the group went upstairs to
enjoy the entertainment for the
evening. Rick Mclnroy and Graeme
Craig put together their two-man
show touching on a variety of topics,
personal reflections and life
experiences. Adding a little fun was
the participation of Anne Bosman
and Don Dalton in the "Hat Story".
It was a well-received evening for
the benefit of the Institute and the
Hall.
Each organization received over
$650 for the betterment of their
organization. Our deepest
appreciation to Rick and Graeme for
their time, talent, trust and tales and
in some moments, the heckling!
We send our birthday greetings to
Henk Ten Pas who celebrated his
80th birthday last week. They had a
family gathering at the Optimist
Clubhouse and over 25 family and
friends gathered. They enjoyed food
and stories and a lovely afternoon.
Congrats Henk on reaching the
milestone of 80!
It is nice to see Joanne Knight
Black here for a visit again. She
arrived a week ago and will be gone
already. She was able to visit with all
the Knight relatives at the Knight
Christmas and have a great visit with
her dad, Jack.
Our sympathies are expressed to
the Hesse family on the passing of
Bob Hesse. He will be missed by his
wife Lucy and his children Linda,
Beverly, Barbara and Norman and
their families. Bob was well known
around the village of Brussels for his
many business ventures. Our
sympathies to all.
Celebrating birthdays this past
week were Charlie Glousher, Kristi
Dawn Godkin, Mark Sullivan, Brian
Warwick, Derek Hoegy, Shirley Ann
Boven, Sarah Williamson Machan,
Carl McCallum, Valerie Laverty
Shortreed, Edythe Warwick
and Donna McClure. Happy
birthday to all.
