Snow arrives in time for village Santa Claus parade
The white stuff has arrived. Folks
with contacts in the west, have been
made well aware that the warning
snows had been and gone. The
popular opinion from my Alberta
folks is that winter is there to stay. It
didn't take too long to clue in that
the 18°C days of November were
done. Ah, November.
With winter plans on the books,
the One Care Home and Community
Support Services want the world to
know that they have several services
that could benefit folks with limited
navigation. A call to One Care 1-
877-502-8277 will review the list of
services at hand. The newest one for
the community benefit is hot Meals
on Wheels offered three times a
week.
To make life simple, a monthly
invoice looks after the payment. So
nutrition should not be an issue here
with three good restaurants, all
accessible, senior dining twice a
month at the United Church, Friday
Legion suppers and the weekly Soup
& More 2 lunch. It's a matter of
finding the service that suits you. So
be sure to call the above number if
delivered meals will help your life.
This offers an new opportunity for
volunteers to help keep folks in their
homes. You need a vehicle to meet
the delivery truck at noon in

Thursday night darts are still
hoping for more folks to come out
and join them. It starts at 8 p.m. and
anyone can join in the fun for just a
buck. There were 10 darters
enjoying the play on Thursday
evening. Winners were: first, Gord
Jacklin; second, Lawrence Machan
and Marlene Rutledge. Gord had the
high shot of the evening hitting 133
and the first skunk of the year was
recorded by Betty Ann Smith and
Jim Brown. Remember, darts is open
to anyone to participate, whether
you are a Legion member or not.
The long-standing tradition of the
Knight family celebrating their
Christmas gathering continued again
this past Saturday. The Jim Knight
family, Brenda and Karen, were the
hosts for the evening. They enjoyed
a social time visiting, a delicious
turkey dinner and then a visit from
Santa. Helping with the meal were
Rick McDonald, Deb Cann, new
member Becky and Jo -Ann
McDonald.

We're fast approaching Advent,
the lead -up to Christmas, which is
actually the 12 days after Dec. 25.
Lots of neat things are being
prepared to celebrate the season. The
Santa Claus Parade is on Saturday
with all the fun for the kids and their
cohorts along the parade route and at
the arena. Get out your long johns
and plan to attend. You may even get
to sit with Santa and tell him more
than he wants to know.
The following Saturday afternoon,
at the United Church, Bob
Kellington has organized a display
of nativity scenes. People will share
their varied and often unique nativity
scenes with you to view. Each one
has a story to tell of history, origin
and sentiment. So enjoy this new
thing for Brussels, Dec. 3 from 2:30
to 4:30 p.m. Goodies will be
available and your donations will
benefit the Ministerial.
Two upcoming traditions in the
village involve Christmas music. The
Christmas Choral Fest is Dec. 11 at
7:30 p.m. This is the night where the
area churches share their Christmas
music and the audience gets to sing
along at times - a good way to get
festive. This year on Dec. 22 at 7
p.m. the United Church offers a night
of unabashed singing of all the
favourite Christmas numbers. Come
and sing yourself silly.
At this time of year even the

3 GOLDS 81 SILVER
I would like to thank the community
businesses, service groups and
individuals for believing in my
dream. Your support allowed me to
dance at the world level. I brought
home 3 gold medals and 1 silver
medal and all 6 of my dances
finished in the top 10! It was the
best feeling to stand on that
podium and sing Canada's national
anthem. Your love and support will
stay with me forever!
