Nancy Costs for cat control concern M -T's Smuck A bill for animal control raised some eyebrows at a recent Morris- Turnberry Council meeting. As part of council's review of the monthly expenditures, Councillor John Smuck was curious as to what caused a $630.56 bill from Wingham Veterinary Clinic. When informed it was for the euthanasia of a group of cats, Smuck said council would need to discuss the issue. "I thought we were going to talk to the vet clinic to try and get a little better rate," he said, adding the cost was higher than he expected it to be. Morris-Turnberry Administrator Clerk -Treasurer Nancy Michie explained the township had discussed the issue with the clinic and that this was a second group of cats, while the first cost between $700 and $800. "The cost does add up," she said. No action was taken regarding the issue and the accounts for the month were approved as presented. We wear poppies to honour the people who fought for us in the battlefields. A Poppy is a symbol all over the world. Money is raised selling poppies and is used to help the orphans who lost parents in the war. Today we enjoy freedom. The soldiers paid a price for our freedom. We have freedom from Jesus Christ. Jesus died to set us free. We need to stop and thank God for our freedom. Jesus paid the penalty for our sins. The children adjourned to Sunday school. We listened to the word of God as Lila and Ken Procter read scripture from Thessalonians 2: 1-5, 13-17 and Psalm 145 read responsively with the congregation and Luke 20: 27-38. For reflections, Nancy reflected on angels which are ornaments, they are on greeting cards and posters. They are a symbol of Christmas. In heaven, life will not match our life on earth. We will be children of God or angels. When we have faith our fear is wiped away. Angels are created by God. Have you ever called on a guardian angel for help? Angels can act as a messenger. We need to choose life and not fear as we enter into the future. We need to be willing to give God our lives. It is all a matter of faith. "Weep for the Dead" was the hymn of response. Nancy Jardin reported on the minute for mission. Larry Harper and Doug Walker took up the offering which was dedicated. The closing hymn, "When Will People Cease Their Fighting", the benediction and blessing, "Go Now in Peace" concluded the morning worship service.
