Centenaires best Lancers in special game in Brussels
experience in that it doesn't happen
often in the league.
"It's the first time we've done it
and, for the most part, other teams
don't really do it," he said. "It was
important and easier for us to do it
because we're the Huron East
Centenaires, so we want to get that
support from both Brussels and
Seaforth"
As far as changes for next
year, Lee said there weren't any
real problems, aside from the fact
that the dressing rooms are a bit
tight for teams of adults
playing Senior 'A' hockey.
"Things might be a bit different
next year now that we know how it
can work," he said. "Our goal was to
go there and see how the crowd
would work and see if they wanted
us to come back and I think in both
of those respects we were
successful"
Lee said he hopes to incorporate
more people and more community
groups for the next event.

The Brussels, Morris and Grey
Community Centre (BMGCC) and
fans from Brussels played great
hosts to the Huron East Centenaires
over the weekend.
The Centenaires, a Senior A team
that normally plays in Seaforth, took
on the Lucknow Lancers at the
BMGCC on Nov. 5 and came out
with a 6-0 win.
Centenaire Executive member
Brett Lee said the home game in
Brussels, the first of its kind for the
club, was a success.
"The game went really well," he
said. "There was a really good,
supportive crowd for the team. We
were really happy with the number
of people who came out and the guys
did well, winning 6-0. That was a
nice outcome for us"
Lee said he spoke to people at the
event and, based on the feedback he
received, has already started
looking at how to repeat the
event next year.
"We want to incorporate some of
the Crusaders players and players
from the past and do kind of a
reunion night," he said. "We want to
build on the hockey experiences
happening in Brussels and have
people come back to remember what
having hockey of that level there is
like."
Lee said the game was a unique

Sebastian named to
national short list
For the second year in a row,
Brussels native Ty Sebastian has
made the 40 -player list that will
constitute the 2017 Canadian Men's
National Softball Team.
Tryouts, which will be held next
year, will help coaches whittle that
list down to 17 players. The team
will travel to Whitehorse, Yukon for
the 15th Men's World Softball
Championship, held July 7-16, 2017.
Sebastian said that his experience
in various tournaments, including
his time with the Canadian Junior
team, likely led to him being on the
coaches' radar for the team.
"My experiences have certainly
helped," he said. "I've been
developing through the national
system for several years"
Sebastian has played with almost
everyone on the 40 -player list and
says there is a healthy mix of veteran
and new players vying for the spots
on the team.
Sebastian, who plays for the
Brussels Tigers, has earned national
titles with various teams and played
for Canada in the international
junior softball championship.
Recently he also played a season
in Australia, spending the
winter months in the
warmer country.

Sebastian's drive to make the team.
