Four locals made over by `Marilyn Denis Show
A new look

last month. The goal was to break free from their "biker babe" images in favour of something
a little more modern, as well as colorful. From left: Diane Anderson, Cheryl Ryan, Dianne

The Citizen
Four friends from the Walton and
Londesborough areas were recently
made over by a celebrity stylist on
The Marilyn Denis Show, one of
Canada's leading television shows.
Diane Anderson and her friends
Brenda Dalton, Cheryl Ryan and
Dianne McCallum all appeared on
the show on Friday, Oct. 21,
although the process to bring the
women on the show began nearly a
full two years earlier.
Anderson says that she and the
three friends are part of a larger
group of about 10 friends who often
plan day -trips and vacations
together. While some of those
outings may be to shop or take in
tourist destinations, many centre
around their love of the open road by
way of their motorcycles.
The process that brought the four
women to the show began with
Anderson e -mailing the show and
inquiring about tickets to simply
take in the taping as spectators back
in January, 2015. Anderson,
however, attached a picture of the
women along with her response to
one of the show's producers.
Correspondence quickly
transitioned from a simple ticket
request to a suggestion that the
women may want to be part of a
future show.
It was later that year that talk
turned to potentially appearing on
the show for makeovers. Anderson
remembers it, because all four
women were together in Arizona at
the time.
The concept began with the
women riding their motorcycles to
Toronto in April. However,
Anderson informed the show's
producers that none of them were
prepared to ride their motorcycles in
April, especially through Huron
County.
The conversation stalled for about
a year, Anderson says, although she
was persistent in reminding
producers that she and her friends
were still willing to come and be part
of the show in some capacity.
It was this July when Anderson
received confirmation that an
upcoming episode's theme fit the
self -described foursome of "biker
moms and grandmas" perfectly. The
show's producers suggested that the
women could be involved in a
makeover show that would take their
"biker babe" look and turn them into
something a little more feminine and
trendy.
The Marilyn Denis Show then sent
a crew to Huron County on Aug. 10
and the women then made their way
to Toronto for the taping of the show
on Aug. 29-30.
Ryan says the crew travelled to
Huron County on what felt like the
hottest day of the year — only made
to feel hotter by the eight hours of
work the women had to complete for
the crew, much of which was done
wearing heavy, leather biker gear.
Before and after
The Marilyn Denis Show took four women from the Londesborough and Walton areas and
equipped them with new, modern looks. This, however, is a picture of the women in their "biker"
clothes before they were made over. From left: Diane Anderson, Cheryl Ryan, celebrity stylist

All four women say the experience
in Huron County was both fun and
professional. The crew helped to put
the women at ease and even
commented on how pleasant it was
to be in a rural setting, saying they
are often "cooped up" in a Toronto
condominium.
The crew interviewed all four
women separately and took plenty of
pictures of them in different outfits,
as well as of their motorcycles. The
women even made lunch for the
crew, noting that there aren't many
dining options on country blocks
near Walton.
The show filmed on Aug. 30, but
the four women were welcomed to
Toronto the day before to prepare for
the production, getting their hair
coloured and styled and being
matched with an ideal makeover
outfit chosen for them by one of the
show's producers and Alexis Honce,
a fashion expert and celebrity
stylist.
The concept of the show, dubbed
"Full Throttle Makeover" was to
take one of each person's chosen
leather attire and repurpose it in a
modern, every -day feminine way.
Anderson utilized her leather boots,
while Ryan kept her favourite leather
jacket, Dalton opted to feature a
leather vest and McCallum brought
along a leather skirt.
Honce then chose a completely
new way to utilize that item,
incorporating colours and styles that
the women may not have normally
chosen.
The major portion of the program,
however, was a full makeover for
each woman from head to toe. All
four women say they couldn't
believe the results of the makeover
and that they all felt great with their
new looks.
Dalton said that she was impressed
most by what stylists did to her hair,
while Ryan said she loved what
Honce recommended for her,
bringing her out of her comfort zone,
but in a good way.
McCallum said she was very
surprised with her new look and that
she felt like a new person, saying the
makeover completely changed her
personality.
Anderson said she was very
comfortable with the clothes, but
that the changes made to her hair felt
very different, but definitely a
change she appreciated.
In the crowd that day were some
familiar faces, friends of the women,
including Brussels' Sheila Bauer,
Ivy Broadfoot of Seaforth and
Leeann McNeil of Paisley.
All four women agree that their
Marilyn Denis Show makeovers
have changed their attitudes when
they go shopping. McCallum said
she was instantly looking for outfits
with more colour, similar to the
outfit she was given (all four women
got to keep their new outfits) by the
show. And while their eyes have
been opened to some new styles,
they all agree they won't be turning
in their leather or motorcycles any
time soon.

Throttle Makeover" segment under
