As soon as I walked into the all -
too -familiar Auburn Hall last
Saturday afternoon I was struck by
something that was unfamiliar in this
place. It didn't smell like the hall I
have often visited in the past.
Instead there was the sweet aroma of
pumpkin spice in the air. I soon
discovered that a burning scented
candle was responsible for the
pleasant surprise.
Anyway, it seems fitting to smell
pumpkin because I was here to
check out the fifth successful year of
the annual Auburn Village Pumpkin
Party.
Once again the Auburn
Horticultural Society planned a great
community event that was well
attended by children and their
families. Society President Karen
Redmond said she was especially
Pumpkin Party
The fifth annual pumpkin party was held at Auburn Community Hall on Saturday and saw
participants do their best to carve some fantastic designs into pumpkins for Halloween on
Monday. Above is Laura Beacom taking a stab at pumpkin carving while, below, Holly, left, and

pleased this year for the good
turnout because there were other
children's events taking place in
nearby communities. The room was
full of people carving out their
pumpkins and then putting them up
on the front stage for display.
The grand finale of the lighting of
the pumpkins is always a highlight.
If you were finished with your
pumpkin then there were plenty of
other things to keep you busy.
A walk around the room revealed a
table where you could make
cupcakes.
There was a Lego table that was
popular this year and dress up
clothes and a games area for the
kiddies all sponsored by the
Wawanosh 4-H Club.
