Huron Christian School (HCS) in
Clinton has officially launched its
Same Foundation, Next Generation
$3 million renovation funding
campaign.
Located at 87 Percival Street, the
school is about to undergo a major
renovation project to its facility. The
project will affect many areas but
most significantly in the primary
classrooms of the school. The
entrance, foyer and administrative
office will also be renovated, the
stage in the gym will be
repositioned, a performing arts space
will be added, and a newly -designed
pitched roof will cover the entire
facility.
Designed by Henry Swinkels
Architect, the new design drawings
for the existing building will boast
12,500 square feet of renovated
space and 3,660 square feet of new
construction, increasing the current
square footage of 19,575 square feet
up to 23,235 square feet.
"By the grace of God, Huron
Christian School has been offering a
Christ -centred education in these
facilities for 54 years. We have
benefitted from the vision and work
of the generations before us. And
now we want to ensure future
generations also enjoy their legacy.
We all know that life changes at an
incredible pace so we need to ensure
our programs and educational
environment continue to be relevant
and current. To this end,
improvements to our building are
necessary to not only support our
current programs, but to expand our
educational opportunities, as well as
create new spaces for learning.
These enhancements will allow us to
continue to provide a quality Christ -
centred education which is so vitally
important to us" says Principal Nick
Geleynse. "A lot of thought and
planning has been done over the last
two years in preparation for this
project and now is the time to shift
our ideas from paper to actual bricks
and mortar. These are exciting times
at HCS — a time for us to lay the
groundwork for Christian education
in Huron County for many years to
come. It's time to make history once
again."
The Huron Christian School
Board of Directors has approved
moving forward with the $3 million
Same Foundation, Next Generation
Capital Campaign that will raise the
necessary funds for this Large
project. The decision came
following the undertaking of a
community assessment that was
conducted by The Dennis Group
Inc., a fundraising consulting firm,
in the spring of this year, and the
completion of concept designs by
architect Henry Swinkels in June,
2016. The pre -campaign team has
been meeting through the summer
months to prepare for the campaign,
including the recruitment of a

This year marks the 55th year that
Huron Christian School has brought
the community together by a mutual
desire to have Christ -centred
education in the Huron County area.
From the first informal meeting after
church on July 19, 1953, to the
opening of the two -classroom school
in 1962 with 54 students, followed
by numerous additions, new
programs and technological
upgrades over the years, today, the
school is entrusted with 159 students
in a facility that continues to adapt to
the changing educational
environment! The school nurtures
students from across Huron County,
serving 15 churches from nine
different denominations.
