On Tuesday fed steers and heifers sold on a selective demand at prices $3 lower. Choice steers and heifers sold $124 to $128 with sales to $131. Second cut sold $120 to $124. Cows sold on a good active trade at steady prices. On Tuesday right weight veal calves sold on a strong active trade at steady prices. Beef calves sold steady and heavy veal sold lower due to the past holiday. Lambs sold steady, sheep sold easier and goats sold lower. On Friday calves and yearlings sold on a very active trade at prices $2 to $3 higher. Don Walter of Mildmay, consigned five steers that averaged 1,463 lbs. and sold for an average price of $124.98. Two black steers averaged 1,403 lbs. and sold to Clark Brothers Livestock for an average price of $131. Southlore Farms Inc. of Palmerston, consigned 16 cattle that averaged 1,303 lbs. and sold for an average price of $124.53. One red steer weighed 1,565 lbs. and sold to James Gingrich for $129.50. Steve Lobsinger of Palmerston, consigned one rwf heifer that weighed 1,375 lbs. and sold to Clark Brothers Livestock for $126. Connell Farms Inc. of Palmerston, consigned 18 heifers that averaged 1,471 lbs. and sold for an average price of $121.63. One bwf heifer weighed 1,365 lbs. and sold to Clark Brothers Livestock for $125. There were 200 cows on offer. Export types sold $80 to $87 with sales to $96; beef, $85 to $90 with sales to $103; D1 and D2, $79 to $82; D3, $75 to $79; D4, $60 to $75. Bill Pearson of Ethel, consigned one hereford cow that weighed 1,360 lbs. and sold for $103. There were 15 bulls selling $104 to $121. Jessie Van Loo of Bluevale, consigned one charolais bull that weighed 2,175 lbs., sold for $121. There were 140 head of veal on offer. Beef sold $135 to $200 with sales to $202; good holsteins, $123 to $135 with sales to $136.50; medium holsteins, $110 to $120; Si heavy holsteins, $117 to $125; heavy holsteins, $105 to $115. Eleven charolais heifers averaged 810 lbs. and sold for an average price of $168.50. Heritage Plan meeting set for Belgrave arena Huron County is in the final stages of development for its Natural Heritage Plan and will be holding two public open houses next month to introduce the plan to residents. Planner Susanna Reid spoke to the plan at Huron County Council's Sept. 14 committee of the whole meeting, explaining that when the county's official plan was approved in 2010, it called for the development of a Natural Heritage Plan. Furthermore, council provided direction for the plan in 2011. The plan includes two documents, Reid told councillors, the Natural Heritage Technical Document, as well as the Natural Heritage Implementation Strategy. The plan has four goals: the provide an increased understanding of the location, significance and interaction of the county's natural heritage features; to ensure county and lower -tier planning documents are consistent with the provincial direction for protecting natural heritage features; to develop priorities for land stewardship programs and to support sustainable economic development.
