AGNES "NAN" TOMLINSON
GORE
A long-time Blyth merchant
Agnes "Nan" Gore died at
Woodingford Nursing Home,
Woodstock on Monday, Sept. 5,
2016. She was in her 84th year.
Nan and her husband Eugene
came to Blyth from Aurora in
November, 1974 when they
purchased the hardware store
operated by Tom and Cheryl Cronin,
located in the building most recently
occupied by Sharon's Cars and
Miniatures.
The couple operated Gores' Home
Hardware together until Gene's
death in 1997 and Nan continued on
her own until 2004.
With her friendly manner and
delightful Scottish lilt, Nan had
many friends in Blyth where she
was a member of the Order of the
Eastern Star and Blyth United
Church.
She was the daughter of the late
William and Agnes Clark. She is
survived by Bill Clark and his wife
Heather, Brantford; Doris Clark,
Burford and Dorcas Clark,
Brampton. She was predeceased by
her brothers Robert and John Clark.
The funeral service was held at
Blyth United Church on Thursday,
Sept. 8, 2016 at 1 p.m. following a
one hour visitation period. Rev. Gary
Clark officiated. Interment was in
Blyth Union Cemetery.

ROSE
Frances Anne (Cardiff) Rose of
Brussels, passed away unexpectedly
at her residence on Tuesday, Sept. 6,
2016. Born in Brussels on March 12,
1947, Fran was in her 70th year.
Fran was the beloved wife of the
late Jim Rose (March 25, 1991) and
will be sadly missed by her children
Darwin Rose, Listowel and Tammy
Rose and her husband Herb Govier,
Blyth. Fran was the loving
grandmother of Madison and Hunter
Rose and Hailey Govier. Fran was
predeceased by her parents Pete and
Helen Cardiff, her brother Fred and
his wife Marie and her sister Jean
Orth.
Friends were received by the
family on Friday, Sept. 9 at the
Schimanski Family Funeral Home,
Brussels. The funeral service was
conducted at St. John's Anglican
Church, Brussels on Saturday, Sept.
10. The Venerable Allan Livingstone
officiated. A remembrance of Fran
was given by her son Darwin.
Interment was in Brussels
Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers
were Robert Rose, Joe Taylor, Lyle
Ash, Gary Orth, Sandra Ash, Herb
Govier, Tammy Rose and Darwin
Rose.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation or to the ALS
Society of Canada would be

GEORGE CAMPBELL WEY
George Campbell Wey of Seaforth
and formerly of Walton, passed away
peacefully at Maplewood Manor,
Seaforth on Wednesday, Sept. 7,
2016. Born in Neepawa, Manitoba
on Monday, Oct. 2, 1922, Campbell
was in his 94th year.
Campbell was the beloved
husband of the late Edith (nee
Hackwell) for 66 years (Feb. 26,
2015). He was the loving father of
Douglas Wey (Heidi Engelhardt),
Waterloo; Deborah Wey (Dwayne
Mountney), Port Colborne and
the late Dena Kale (Larry),
Pittsburgh. Campbell was the
cherished grandpa of Karla Kale
(Chris Stead), Cameron Kale, Tess
Wey and Duncan Wey. Campbell
was predeceased by his
parents George and Marion (nee
Campbell) Wey, siblings Margaret
Hillstand (Cliff), Samuel Wey, Betty
Wey and sister-in-law Bernice Gray
(Donald).
There was no formal visitation or
funeral service. At Campbell's
request a private graveside
committal service took place in
Maitlandbank Cemetery. Funeral
arrangements were entrusted to the
McGlynn Family Funeral Home,
Seaforth.

Jean Isabel Woods (nee Caldwell)
of Petrolia, formerly of Blyth,
passed away suddenly on Saturday,
Sept. 10, 2016. She was 61.
Jean was the loved sister of Linda
(Phil) Powers, Oil Springs and Gary
(Linda Brandon) Caldwell, Blyth.
She was the special and loved friend
of Glen Bicknell, Petrolia and
cherished niece of Edna MacDonald,
Clinton.
Jean is survived by several nieces,
nephews and cousins. She was
predeceased by her parents Gordon
and Catherine Caldwell, Blyth.
A graduate of Wilfrid Laurier
University, Jean had a deep love of
learning and was a talented
musician, teaching piano in the
Petrolia area for many years. An
artist to her very core, Jean is a
published poet, a visual artist and
was especially dedicated to the
Lambton County Music Festival.
She will be missed by her church
family at St. Philip's Parish.
Visitors will be received on Friday,
Sept. 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the
Needham -Jay Funeral Home,
Petrolia. The funeral service will be
held on Saturday, Sept. 24 at
11 a.m. Interment of cremated
remains will be in Hillsdale
Cemetery.
