Sign considered for Walton Hall
A motion to consider putting a
sign on the Walton Community Hall
will return to Huron East Council
after being reviewed by the Walton
Hall Board.
Huron East Council made the
decision at its July 5 meeting after
receiving a letter from Helen Craig,
secretary -treasurer of the Walton
Women's Institute.
Craig raised a concern with the
lack of signage at the hall, which
was realized when the WI recently
held its 60th anniversary celebration
at the hall.
"The event was held in Walton
Hall, which Walton WI operated
approximately 10 years and have
supported for many more years. We
realized there is currently no sign on
the hall when visiting guests were
hoping they had stopped at the
correct location," Craig wrote. "We
are wondering about a sign for the

Walton Hall. We request council
consider re-signing this Huron East
building."
At Huron East Council's July 5
meeting, Chief Administrative
Officer Brad Knight said there had
been signage at the hall years ago,
but that it had likely been covered up
when the hall was last repaired and
the signage was then never replaced.
Council decided to refer the
request to the Walton Hall Board for
a recommendation, which would
then return to council for approval.
