FROM BLYTH
Blyth United Church services to be moved to 11 a.m.
Greeting worshippers at Blyth
United Church on Father's Day
Sunday, June 19 were Lavern Clark
and Lorie Falconer. Ushering were
Lissa Kolkman and Laurie Sparling.
Marilyn Scott was pianist and Katie
Dockstader was choir director.
Lavern Clark ran the power point.
Emily Phillips welcomed
everyone to church and wished all
the fathers a Happy Father's Day.
Emily drew everyone's attention to
the announcements printed in the
bulletin with special mention that
starting July 3, the church's service
will begin at 11 a.m. She also
reminded the congregation that on
July 17 there will be no service at
Blyth United Church so that
members of the congregation can
attend the community service in the
Lion's Park.
Harrison Bernard and his friend lit
the Candles on the Altar Table along
with the Christ Candle. The first
hymn "Lord Prepare Me to be a
Sanctuary" was sung followed by
the opening prayer said responsively
with the sign language in the
response. Everyone was invited to
greet one another. The next hymn
"Come In, Come In and Sit Down"
was sung. The scripture reading was
from 1 King 21: 1-10, 15-21a. The
choir sang the anthem "Shine On
Me"
Rev. Clark asked the children what
one word described their father.
Some of the words were fixing
things, loving, big hands (Gary's
father), forgiving and sharing. A
prayer was said with the children.
Rev. Clark's message to the
congregation was "Let's Be Honest,
Who Are Our Friends." The
scriptures this morning told us of
how King Ahab wanted Naboth's
vineyard, but Naboth would not sell

One of the remarkable things about growth in grace
(Todd Nibert)
"0 what a wretched man I am!" Romans 7:24
One of the remarkable things about growth in grace is that the more you grow-
-the smaller you become in your own eyes.
In the first epistle Paul ever wrote, he was "the least of all apostles"
He later wrote to the Ephesians that he was "less than the least of all the saints.
Shortly before his death he wrote to Timothy, "I am the chief of sinners."

accuse Naboth of blaspheming God
and the King.
King Ahab crossed the line by
taking Naboth's vineyard and going
against the people. People look up to
the fathers of the nation and children
look up to their Fathers. God sent us
prophets to help us change our ways.
We can only live in the moment and
take wisdom for the past and hope
for the future. Good friends do not
remain silent when they see we are
doing wrong, they speak up and tell
us we are doing wrong. Ahab failed
and had no one to tell him he was
wrong. We must remember we live
in a small town and people are
watching.
The next hymn "Jesus Friend of
Little Children" was sung. The
offering was received followed by
the offertory response "Your Work,
O God, Needs Many Hands," the
offertory prayer, prayers for the
