A great day
The Fresh Wind Revival Centre church south of Wingham had 320,000 reasons to celebrate
on Sunday. The church had overcome adversity, according to Pastor Tim Bjorkman, when it
found itself in financial dire straits several years ago. The original mortgage for the property
was $180,000 in 1992, to which $30,000 was added. Then, in 2009, another $25,000 was
added for projects and recently a heating and cooling upgrade was installed for $75,000. The
total, $320,000, was paid in full at the end of last year and on Sunday the church marked the
special occasion with a mortgage burning. From left: Rev. Ron Baker, Susan Baker, Rev. Scott

Bruce -Maitland, the current
congregation and former members
of Chalmers of Whitechurch
gathered for their farewell, closing
service on Sunday, June 12.
Chalmers' history goes back 152
years. Mildred and Archie Purdon
compiled an interesting overview of
that history that Doris Taylor read
during the service. Records indicate
that there were at least 889 baptisms
and 296 marriages. Chalmers was
served by numerous student
ministers and many were ordained
there.
For the closing service the choir
anthem was "Precious Memories".
Other special music included Jim
Taylor's solo, "Amazing Grace" and
piano and organ with guest pianist
Rena Forrester and Chalmers long-
time organist Jean Ross.
Former Minister Carol Jessop read
the scripture while the current
minister Elly Dow's message
focused on God's presence with us
wherever we go "until the end of the
age" Mt. 28:20.
Many members of the
congregation took part in the service
including, Clerk of Session Archie
Purdon and Secretary Treasurer Bill
Young who presented the Symbols
and Historical Documents for
Transfer to Grey Bruce Maitland
Presbytery as the final step in the

Dissolution of the Congregation.
Following the service everyone
