Love Does
Bob Goff is the author of the New York Times bestseller Love Does. He is a motivational

Huron Chapel is continuing its
outreach into the community with a
special event this weekend in
Goderich, followed by something a
little closer to home.
Pastor Mark Royall is bringing
Bob Goff, the author of the New York
Times bestselling book Love Does,
to Goderich for a special speaking
engagement at Lions Harbour Park
at 7 p.m. and then to Huron Chapel
for its service the following Sunday.
Royall first saw Goff speak a
number of years ago in California
and he said he was captivated by
Goff and his message about the
importance that love can make in a
person's life.
Love Does is Goff's registered
non-profit corporation and it's also
the name of Goff's bestselling book.
The organization focuses on
changing lives for the better through
educational improvement, human
rights and fighting for freedoms.
Providing a voice to those who need
one is the organization's aim and
goal. Bob Goff is an attorney who
has fought for human rights in
Uganda, India and Somalia through
another non-profit, Restore
International, which he also
founded. Love Does, a collection of
small stories, is a book he wrote in
2012 and it has been on the New York

Times bestseller list. Goff travels the
globe and speaks to audiences
encouraging people to do what love
does. Goff says in his book, "That's
because love is never stationary. In
the end, love doesn't just keep
thinking about it or keep planning
for it. Simply put: love does".
When Royall first saw Goff speak
in California, he said he was
engaging and educational, but funny
and inspiring.
In the same vein as the church's
efforts to bring New York Times
bestselling author Todd Burpo and

The Glory Boys to Blyth, bringing
Goff to Huron County is another
step in the church's community
activities.
In January, Royall said, he was on
the lookout for another event that
would bring in members of the
community. It's important to Royall,
he said, to host these events away
from the church.
The events aren't meant to attract
more people to the congregation or

as an effort to spread the church's
message. Royall says the events are
a way to give back to the community
and provide a nice, inspiring night
out for members of the community.
As Royall prayed earlier this year,
it was Goff who kept coming to
mind, so Royall said he knew who to
pursue for the church's next outreach
event.
However, when Royall first
contacted Goff, he said, there was no
way he could come to Huron County
(he is based dually in California and
Washington State) before 2017.
Royall was persistent, he said, but
when it was clear that nothing in
2016 was going to happen, he began
planning for a 2017 event. However,
in February, Goff called Royall back

and proposed the Victoria Day
weekend and Royall immediately
agreed.
To Royall, he said, this was God
informing him that he was bringing
the right person to the community.
The event is completely free and
set for 7 p.m. in Goderich. Goff,
however, will be at Huron Chapel in
Auburn the following Sunday
morning for the church's weekly
service.
This event, Royall said, is more
for the Auburn church's
congregation, and will focus more
on the church's message and beliefs.
