The family of Nicole Robinson is
happy to know that she is safe and
heading home from Fort McMurray,
Alberta. Her parents Steven and
Joanne, Stephanie, aunts and uncles,
grandma and grandpa Bill and
Muriel have been watching the fire
unfold, especially after Nicole was
evacuated on Tuesday afternoon.
Nicole has been attending Keyano
College and working there starting a
new job on Monday. She was flown
to Edmonton on Thursday and
flown home on Sunday. She was
unable to take anything with her, so
shopping will be the first thing on
her agenda. Welcome home, Nicole.
Keith and Barbara Campbell of
British Columbia visited with
Campbell relatives of Belgrave,
Bluevale, Wingham, London,
Strathroy and St. Catharines.
Everyone enjoyed a potluck dinner
at the home of Linda Campbell
A day for the mothers
The Belgrave Kinsmen held a special Mother's Day breakfast on Sunday, hoping to cater to
mothers and their families on their special day. Ensuring that everyone went home happy and
well-fed were, from left: Bill Gulutzen, Gavin VanCamp and William Orth. (Vicky Bremner photo)
(Bruce) on Tuesday, May 3 as well
as visiting and looking through
photo albums.
Beautiful spring flowers adorned
the sanctuary at Knox United
Church on Ascension
Sunday/Family Day. Betty Ross and
her granddaughter Alexa greeted
worshippers and handed out the
service of worship on Mother's Day,
Sunday, May 8.
Brian Hymers welcomed the
congregation and went over the
announcements as printed. Birthday
greetings were extended to Barbara
Harper.
Brian lit the Christ candle. It was
lit for two reasons: to represent the
love for our mothers who gave us
life and to Christ whose ever-present
love is with us everyday.
Sunday was the celebrated Sunday
of Ascension. Christ was drawn
from this earth to sit on the right side
of God then affirming beyond doubt
the existence of heaven and a resting
place of all who believe in Him for
they shall have eternal life.
The Celebration of Baptism was
administered to Briella Violet
Bartman, daughter of Dave and
Becky Bartman and sister to Emma
and Noah, and Rachel Ruby Black,
daughter of Brent and Vicky Black.
Allen Walker presented the
candidates on behalf of the
congregation of Knox United
Church for initiation into the body of
Christ through baptism.
Each were marked with the sign of
the cross from this day forward
bearing the sign of Jesus Christ.
Lighting of the candle to let your
light shine before others that they
may see your good works and give
glory to God. Allen presented each
of them gifts from Knox United and
a certificate. The congregation
welcomed Briella and Rachel with
joy and thanksgiving into the
household of faith.
Reflection was written by DLM
student Ed Turner, Melville United
Church. After the congregation sang,
"I was There to Hear Your Borning
Cry", Nancy Jardin reported on the
Minute for Missions. Ken Procter
and Larry Harper took up the
offering which was dedicated.
The closing hymn, "Jesus Shall
Reign", and the benediction and
blessing "Go Now in Peace"
concluded the morning worship
service.
