Blyth community garden to see new additions Seeding the future Blyth Community `Comet' Garden Designer David Rankine, left, and gardening guru Rhea Hamilton -Seeger were among the first to plant seeds at the community garden last year. (File photo) Continued from page 12 used for the project include marigolds and hollyhock. "We're looking at simple plants that flower with bright colours," Hamilton -Seeger said. The plants will be ground down and turned into dyes through Trimestra-Johnston's program, which will teach students how the dyes can be created at home. Other changes at the garden this year include the planting of thornless blackberries and rhubarb to create some more produce from the garden to be used throughout the community. Hamilton -Seeger also said the garden will be seeing raised beds installed this year with some new plants. As to how those plants will be utilized in the community, she said people would have to wait and see.
