Pickle Ball free -to -try for first -timers at sports pad A NOTE FROM BETTY By Betty Graber Watson Call 887-9231 At the Branch Hurrah, hurrah for the first of May - you finish with your words, there are many versions but they all celebrate warm weather. At this house it also means tax season is over, well for most folks, and the numbers and papers and mutterings have nearly stopped. Welcome May. If you haven't tried pickle ball yet, it's not too late. First time is free to see how much you like it, then you need $3 to cover the fun and exercise that will be yours as you swish your paddle about. In the auditorium or on the sports pad as the weather warms, with several times available, it's a game that can be played on several levels. If you haven't given it a try you really should check it out. I'm writing this on Saturday as we're heading to Hallville for our last visit. Catrina Josling was a very important part of the evening because she was in charge of the power point display, something the rest of us knew nothing about! Thanks Catrina. The Friday night supper of chicken breast was enjoyed by a small crowd of 15 people. This week will be roast beef. There are only two weeks left before the summer The Brussels Lions Club would like to thank all who attended the breakfast held at the legion last week. There were 43 members from the Clinton Legion Branch and they were on a branch bus hop. They started at Clinton and went to Seaforth Branch and then on to Mitchell Branch. Next was Brussels and after an hour stay, it was on to Blyth Branch and then home. We had a great time making new friends with the visiting Branch folks. The Brussels Lions held the third Sunday morning breakfast of the spring. They did a great job as usual and fed about 250 people. Life took hold, three kids were born and raised along with chickens and turkeys and other necessary things on 17 acres. A three-storey barn was one of the neat features as well as a creek and good bush. So it's now time for them to return to Alberta, Rimby this time as the boys both have settled there in service to the oil patch. The sale is complete and before they head west, we wanted one last visit as many happy holiday memories were shared. So another reason to go west - one son, two brothers, two nephews and two friends, the visits are getting longer as I type this. Hopefully a good breakfast was had by many on Sunday with the Lions Club. We are an eating community, a very good way to socialize and get to know each other. Smiles are on faces of many young folks, who will soon graduate, as they tell you their plans for the future. Acceptances from Western and Brock and Ridgetown were all revealed with pride and relief as their future unfolds. Oh what an exciting time to watch hard work and talent come together and be recognized. For the older set, these are the kids we judge the future on, and aren't we lucky to know them.
