Siegers was a dedicated member of the Brussels Mennonite Fellowship congregation and of the Blyth Festival Singers. She also served on Christian peacekeeping missions to Haiti, Bosnia, Burnt Church and Colombia. The intersection of London and Morris Roads was closed for a number of hours after the early afternoon collision that claimed Siegers' life. OPP report, however, that the driver of the car that struck Siegers was not at fault for the incident. Deanna Snell, president of the month, opened with a reading "Lo to the Winters past". She followed with prayer and the Lord's Prayer. With Secretary Eileen absent, Deanna read the secretary's report. Roll call was "what do we think of when we think of the club". It was moved that when a member or a family member dies, and are being buried in Hope Chapel or Ball's Cemetery, a donation will be made to the cemetery in their memory. It was also decided to have a picnic on June 26, at Riverside Park in Auburn, at 12:30 p.m. All club members, past and present, as well as all community members are invited. A great deal of the afternoon was spent on a discussion regarding a quilt for the club's 100th anniversary in 2019. No decision was made, and everyone is to give it some thought in the next month and bring their ideas to the meeting. The May meeting will be at the home of Dorothy Schneider, with Christena Gross as president, and Ila on program. Maggie Treanor had two contests for the program. The hostess served lunch, and the members had a great visit around the table before leaving for home. Fun learning Fun usually comes a close second to learning at many of the schools in Huron County, and Huron Christian School in Clinton is no exception. Here, taking part in the school's "Ready, Set, Alphabet" activities are Carter, left, and Leigha Wynja. (Photo submitted) The March meeting was held at the home of Mary Elder, with Dorothy Schneider as president of the month. She opened the meeting with prayer, followed by the Lord's Prayer. Roll call, was answered by nine members and one guest, with household hints. Eileen gave the secretary's report and Ila gave the treasurer's report. A donation was made to Hope Chapel Cemetery in memory of Carmen Gross. Deanna Snell did the program with a Easter poem, a reading "Irish Wit" and three Irish contests. Mary served a delicious lunch and as usual a great social time was enjoyed. The February meeting of the Walkerburn Club was held at the home of Pat Hunking, with Ila Cunningham serving as president of the month. She opened with a reading "Winter Country Side", followed by prayer and the Lord's Prayer. Eileen McClinchey read the minutes of the last meeting and Ila Cunningham gave the treasurer's report. Roll call was answered with donations of food, clothing and household items for the Laxton family, who lost their house in a fire.
