holds spring meeting
When I heard word it was time for the
Auburn Horticultural Society spring
meeting, I began to smile because I knew
this meant winter was officially over and
warmer days lay ahead.
The horticultural ladies always make
me feel welcome at their meetings and
president Karen Redmond never fails to
introduce me as, "Auburn's Roving
Reporter". Karen began the meeting
revealing a new pamphlet outlining the
one -day summer garden tours for this
coming July. Take note, the garden tour
for Auburn will be held on July 18.
For this year's special guest speaker, the
Auburn Horticultural Society invited
Cindy Ulch MacDonald who manages our
local Auburn Co-op store. Cindy shared
with us some of the new products and
events coming to the Co-op that would be
of interest to the horticulturalist. It was
easy to pick up on the fact that the ladies
really appreciated their local Co-op store.
I learned how the Co-op will leave
things outside the store after hours for
people to pick up if they can't get there
during regular store hours. I also learned
that for Auburn residents they will even
deliver their orders right to their front
lawn via forklift.
I have always been amazed as to how
many things this little Auburn store
carries on its shelves. At one point in the
evening Karen Redmond even referred to
the store as our "Auburn mall". Picking up
on this theme, I have been known to
challenge the Auburn men in our church
to do all their Christmas shopping at the
Auburn Co-op. I believe it could be done
and their wives would be happy.
FROM AUBURN
Spring is here again
Cindy Ulch MacDonald of the Auburn Co-op was the guest speaker
last week at the annual spring meeting of the Auburn Horticultural
Society, which was held at the Auburn Memorial Hall. While many in
attendance were happy to hear from their local shop, excitement was
in the air for another reason as well; the fact that the spring meeting
means warmer weather is on the way. (Mark Royal/ photo)

A day for the ladies
Auburn Memorial Hall was the setting for the A Day for Mom craft show, which was
held on Saturday. There were plenty of merchants on hands selling things to help you
look and feel beautiful — from jewellery to crafts to nail treatments. Here, from left,

tables have to offer. (Vicky Bremner photo)
