The Brussels Optimist Club held its wildly successful spring auction and dinner Saturday night
at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre, which, this year, raised funds for the
Sunshine Foundation. Among those taking in the evening's bounty ahead of the live auction
were Matt and Julie Shortreed, left, the winners of last year's 50/50 draw at the dinner. The
couple, however, donated their winnings back to the cause. (Vicky Bremner photo)

Well the spring-like weather was
enjoyed and now a little cooler
weather has returned. Many folks
may not like it, but I understand the
folks tapping trees are thankful for
the sap continuing to run. It was Finlayson and John van Vliet.
beginning to look like a very short Happy birthday to all.
season, but the cold nights and warm
days are just the right combination.
The BW Trailblazers met at the
Walton Hall on Wednesday evening
for their monthly meeting. I see that
members are busy out there taking
down the trail stakes, so I guess that
means the snowmobile season is
over. The group will have their year-
end meeting in April.
Congratulations to Kelly and
Amanda White on the birth of a son.
Big sister Alexis is happy to
have baby brother Connor join the
family.
St. Patrick's Day is celebrated in
many ways by many people, and my
nephew and partner will always
have a special reason to celebrate. A
new member of the family arrived at
noon on St. Patty's Day. A great-
niece was born in London to Dennis
and Carly and she is named Aylah. It
also just happened that she was born
on her Grandma Nancy's (my sister)
birthday. Everyone is doing well and
we hope to see the newest member
at Easter!
Don and Dale Chesher are
enjoying a holiday with their
daughter Melody and granddaughter
Alexa. They are here from Denmark
for about two weeks. Time will
fly when entertaining a five year
old!
Another great job was done by the
Optimist Club with their dinner and
auction held on Saturday evening.
They raised over $20,000 for the
Sunshine Foundation and for
Community Betterment. Great job
guys!
