HE approves tenders
At Huron East Council's Feb. 16
meeting, Mayor Bernie MacLellan
informed councillors that the
evaluation of Chief Administrative
Officer Brad Knight is complete and
ready to be presented.
The evaluation, which had caused
tempers to flare at previous meetings
due to what councillors felt was an
underhanded approach, has been
completed by MacLellan and
Deputy -Mayor Joe Steffler.
MacLellan asked councillors
when they would like the evaluation
presented. It will be presented in
March. The mayor stated that he and
Steffler were pleased with the
process, as was Knight, who has
already seen the results.

Council approved tenders for dust
control and gravel at its Feb. 16
meeting, seeking over 70,000 tonnes
of gravel to be loaded, weighed,
hauled and spread in 2016.
Council accepted the tender of
Blane Trucking for the
municipality's north patrol, which
requires 51,000 tonnes of gravel for
$149,430. The south patrol tender
went to Clarence Carter and Sons for
the supply, crushing, weighing,
loading, hauling and spreading of
20,000 tonnes of gravel this year for
a price of $169,000.
Four bids were received for the
north patrol tender, while three were
received for the south patrol tender.
Huron East chose the least expensive
option in both instances.
Clifford Holland will handle the
municipality's dust control in 2016
for a total price of $147,735.
Four bids were received and
Clifford Holland's contract price, as
well as his unit price of $201 per
unit, was the lowest.
