Marilyn Scott was pianist and Katie Dockstader, choir director. Connor Brooks ran the power point. Rev. Gary Clark welcomed everyone to church and drew attention to the announcements printed in the bulletin. Special mention was made that the ladies are making turkey pies on March 9. If you wish to order please call Donna Moore at 519-523-9855. If you have ordered pies you can pick them up between 9-11 a.m. the day the pies are being made. He also drew everyone's attention to the fact that the Sunday Fun Group (Sunday School) is hosting a kid -friendly lunch after church next Sunday morning. The menu is macaroni and cheese and hot dogs. The first hymn "Come Touch Our Hearts" was sung followed by the lighting of the Lenten candles. Opening prayer was led by Lavern Clark and David Onn. The candles were lit by Tanner Brooks followed by the singing of the Lord's Prayer. Rev. Clark invited everyone to greet one another. The first and third verses of the hymn "Through These Lenten Days" were sung. The first scripture reading was from Genesis 40: 1-20. The children were asked to come to the front for their story time. Rev. Clark told the children that the scriptures Sunday morning had both a gruesome story and a good story. The good story was that on the Pharaoh's birthday he granted one of the prisoners freedom from prison and the bad story was that he had another prisoner beheaded. Both these men had dreams while in prison and Joseph told them what their dreams meant. A dream is often a hope and we can share it with God. Rev. Clark asked the children who they could ask for help and some answers were their parents or a teacher at school. Often if we ask for help and share our dreams, they come true. The children went downstairs for their time of fellowship. The choir sang the anthem "Where No One Stands Alone." Bodie Craig sang the solo part while the choir sang the harmony parts. The second scripture was from the Gospel of Luke 8:1-3. Rev. Clark's message to the congregation was "Are You Screening Your Calls." We all screen our phone calls if we have call display. We only answer calls when we recognize the number or the name. We are often in a relationship with these people whose number we recognize. Many area maple syrup producers have tapped the trees and are making nature's sweet nectar. From most reports the sap is running satisfactorily. After a very easy winter with some hiccups it will be good to see spring arrive early. Thanks to corporate and individual donations of money, labour and crop inputs, the local project made it possible for $25,500 to be forwarded to the national office of CFGB in Winnipeg. The committee wishes to express its gratitude to everyone for their generosity. In 2014-15, this CFGB provided over $41 million of assistance for 1.1 million people in 39 countries. The CFGB supports projects with three basic purposes: Help people meet their immediate food needs, improve agriculture and livelihoods and improve nutrition, especially for nursing mothers and young children. Regarding the first category, food assistance - the ongoing conflict in Syria continued to have disastrous consequences in 2014-15. Beginning in 2011, the conflict displaced millions of people within Syria, and into neighbouring countries such as Lebanon and Jordan. As the war continues, people are running out of savings and growing increasingly reliant on foreign assistance. In 2014-15, Foodgrains Bank members Nothing escapes His notice! (Arthur Pink, "The Attributes of God") What a wondrous Being is the God of Scripture! "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account." Hebrews 4:13 God is omniscient. He knows everything: everything possible, everything actual, all events, all creatures, of the past, the present, and the future. He is perfectly acquainted with every detail in the life of every being in heaven, in earth, and in hell. Nothing escapes His notice, nothing can be hidden from Him, nothing is forgotten by Him. His knowledge is perfect. He never errs. He never changes. He never overlooks anything. God not only knows whatever has happened in the past in every part of His vast domains; and He is not only thoroughly acquainted with everything that is now transpiring throughout the entire universe — but He is also perfectly cognizant of every event, from the least to the greatest, that ever will happen in the ages to come! God's knowledge of the future is as complete as is His knowledge of the past and the present; and that, because the future depends entirely upon Himself. God has Himself designed whatever shall yet be, and what He has designed, must be effectuated. God's knowledge does not arise from things because they are or will be — but because He has ordained them to be! Yes, such is the God with whom we have to do! "You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue —You know it completely, 0 Lord!" Psalm 139:2-4 A Grace Gem Submitted by: Immanuel United Reformed Church, Listowel, ON 519-291-1956 programmed $8.7 million worth of food assistance for 117,000 people affected by the conflict. An example of the second category is a conservation agriculture project in Ethiopia benefitting 6,000 people. Soil and land degradation is a major concern Continued on page 19 with all of us. God has a relationship with all of us. We as a church have to think how we can communicate with others outside the church by asking for God's help. Joseph goes through many disappointments from being a favourite son, to being a slave and to being a prisoner. When bad things happen to us we often say "Why Me?" Joseph tells the prisoners what their dreams mean. Miracles happen because God is with us. In the second scripture, the women travelling with Jesus took care of Him and the Disciples. Many of these women had been healed by Jesus. We are all given a gift and if we share it, it will grow. The next hymn "Jesus Christ is Waiting" was sung. The offering was received followed by the offertory response "For the Gift of Creation," the offertory prayer, the prayers for the people and silent prayers led by Cheryl Cronin. The last hymn "0 Jesus I Have Promised" was followed by the benediction and the singing of "Go Now In Peace." Cheryl invited everyone for coffee, treats and fellowship at the back of the church before going their separate ways.
