Dinsley St. property
rezoned for triplex
A property in Blyth has been
recommended for approval for a
zoning change to a denser
residential classification.
The rezoning for the property,
located at 518 Dinsley Street, was
brought to North Huron Township
Council's Planning Advisory
Committee on Feb. 16.
Huron County Planner Laura
Young explained that the rezoning
fell in line with both Huron County
and North Huron's Official Plans as
the lot is currently vacant.
In -filling existing land in a
settlement and creating more dense
residential properties are both
activities the municipality and
county wish to see according to
Young.
The property owners plan to build
a tri-plex on the site, according to
Young.
There were no concerns from any
consulted bodies regarding future
access or stormwater management,
Young said.
The committee recommended
approval to council, which in turn
passed a bylaw approving the
change. The issue will now go to
Huron County Council.

Joyce Williamson of the Walton
area retired from North Huron
Township after 30 years of service.
Williamson worked at the North
Huron Daycare, located in
Wingham.
Reeve Neil Vincent said it was sad
to see someone with so much time
invested in the municipality retire,
but wished Williamson the best in
the next stage of her life.
After a presentation by the North
Huron Friends of the Museum,
North Huron Council decided to
look at alternative futures for the
building.
The presentation, was made at
council's Feb. 16 meeting, outlined
the challenges the friends, a non-
profit group that runs the museum,
as well as fundraisers.
Among their largest challenges
are environmental controls in the
building, which doesn't have an
integrated cooling system, and lacks
a qualified person to operate a
cataloguing program.
Council directed staff to look for
alternative options for the future of
the museum and the artifacts
contained within.
North Huron Township Council
gave pre -budget approval for the
purchase of a new squad car for the
Wingham Police Department.
A report was received by council
indicating that a 2011 Dodge
Charger Police Cruiser, which was
purchased in 2012, has had
significant mechanical issues.
Police Chief Tim Poole reported
the issues had been handled under
warranty, however, in December of
last year, an audible engine noise
developed which Chrysler
mechanics said was unfeasible to fix
as the repairs would cost more than
the vehicle was worth.
The estimated cost of the new
cruiser, $39,000, was approved to be
spent by Council. Most of the funds,
according to Poole, were already
available with $23,000 in reserve.
