Lions breakfast helps branch
By Jo -Ann McDonald
The work continues around the
Brussels Legion Branch with both
the accessibility construction and the
sprucing up of the main hall. The
Brussels Lions did a fantastic job on
Sunday hosting a fundraising
breakfast in support of the
accessibility project. They fed nearly
450 people sausage, pancakes and
eggs. They had the use of the fire
department's cooking cart and the
Leo Club assisted in the running of
the plates alongside the Lion
members. What a turnout and what
a great day! They are planning a
second breakfast in March if you
missed this one. Many folks
commented on it was hard to
believer that it was such a warm, dry
day for the Feb. 21 to be working
outside.
The Thursday night darts had 13
players out for fun two weeks ago.
Winners were: first, Sheron
Stadelmann and Sharon Robbins;
second, John Stadelmann and

Burch; second, Roger McHardy and

season, Wayne and Betty Ann Smith

Josling officially retires
By Shawn Loughlin
The Citizen
At its Feb. 16 meeting, Huron
East Council officially appointed
Brad Dietrich as the municipality's
new full-time chief building official.
Dietrich had been brought in just
under one year ago as the chief
building official pro tempore, taking
over for the municipality's former
chief building official, Paul Josling,
who had to take a disability leave
after being diagnosed with cancer.
Chief Administrative Officer Brad
Knight told councillors that Josling
will be turning 65 on Feb. 24, at
which time he plans to officially
retire from his position with Huron
East, formally filing his resignation
with the municipality.
Dietrich will take over the
position on a full-time basis on Feb.
25.
Knight advised council that
Josling should be invited to a future
council meeting so the municipality
can recognize Josling for his years
of service and dedication.
Knight told councillors that
Josling was one of the
municipality's first employees and
had worked hard for Huron East in
the years before he was forced to
take a leave due to illness.
Council passed the bylaw and
agreed to recognize Josling at a
future council meeting.
