Family Day events scheduled
throughout North Huron

North Huron is set to host its
eighth annual Family-Fun-
Apalooza-Winter-Luge-Athon event
on the Family Day holiday weekend.
The event, which aims to both
introduce families to the recreational
opportunities in North Huron and as
a fundraiser for the North Huron
Community Food Share, is
scheduled for Feb. 14-15.
The first event of the municipality -

GRAHAM WORK
Graham Work passed away
peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016
at Seaforth Community Hospital
with his family by his side. He is

nephews, and special cousins and
dear friends, Jim and Shirley
Bowman.
He was predeceased by his

and an infant sister.
Friends and family gathered at the
Schimanski Family Funeral Home
for a visitation on Tuesday evening
and a celebration of Graham's life
was led by Rev. Elwin Garland at
Melville Presbyterian Church on
Wednesday, Feb. 10.
Interment will be held in the
spring at Brussels Cemetery.
ROBERT WOODS GRASBY
Mr. Bob Grasby of Wildwood
Care Centre, St. Marys, formerly of
Belgrave, passed away on Monday,
Feb. 1, 2016. He was 94.
Bob was the beloved husband of
Jane (Armstrong) Grasby, St. Marys,
dear father of Mary and George
Johnston, Ilderton and Donna and
Gary Leitch, London and the loving
grandfather of Tara and Scott
Redmond, Erin and Kyle Young,
Julie and Michael Hobgood and Jeff
and Andrea Leitch. He was Poppa
Bob to Makayla, Alanna, Lauren,
Evan, Zachary, Ethan and Sarah.
Bob was predeceased by his parents
James and Elizabeth (Michie)
Grasby, his sister Adah Smith and
his brother Bill.
Masonic services and visitation
were held on Saturday before the
funeral service at the McBurney
Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jeff
Hawkins officiated. Interment will
be held in Brussels Cemetery,
Morris Township.

Knox United Church, Belgrave

CAROL ANNE GROSS
Carol Anne Gross (nee Govier) of
Blyth passed away at Clinton Public
Hospital on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016.
She was in her 65th year.
Carol was the beloved wife of Paul
Gross, dear mother and mother-in-
law of Kevin and Amanda Gross and
Dawn Gross and Gerald Benninger,
all of Blyth. She will be lovingly
remembered by two grandchildren,
Josh Hay and Julian Gross. Carol
was the sister of Joan McDougall,
Goderich; Murray Govier,
Londesborough and Robert Scott
and Donald and Brenda Scott, all of
Blyth. She was predeceased by her
parents Murvin and Margaret Govier
and Dorothy and Laurie Scott.
A celebration of Carol's life will
be held at a later date. As
expressions of sympathy, memorial
donations to the Blyth Legion
Building Fund would be greatly
appreciated.

MARY HELEN WALKER
Helen Walker passed away on
Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 at Sakura
House, Woodstock after a brief
battle with cancer. Helen was born
on Sept. 2, 1936 in Hullett
Township, the daughter of the late
John and Came (Dempsey) Young.
She was 79.
Helen was the beloved wife of the
late Lloyd Walker, who predeceased
her in 2014 and the loving mother of
Douglas Walker, New Hamburg;
Denise Walker, Stratford; Steve and
Judy Walker, New Hamburg and
Beverley McLellan, Brussels. Helen
took great delight in her seven
grandchildren and one great-
grandchild. She will also be missed
by her in-laws, Iris Young, Hensall,
Joe and Eileen Walker, Bluevale;
Emma and Clarence Henning,
Wingham and Edna McTavish,
Wingham, as well as her many
nephews and nieces. Helen was

Dianne Walker, one brother, Roy

Wright and Helen Grey and three
brothers-in-law, Jim Wright, Ross
Grey and Bill Walker.
Helen was a member of the
Salvation Army in Stratford and was
actively involved in various
activities. As well, she enjoyed her
many years of volunteering at the
MCC Thrift Store in New Hamburg.
Most recently, she enjoyed new
friendships with her neighbours at
Nith Terrace. She loved travelling,
playing cards and getting together
with friends. She loved to laugh, had
an infectious smile, a welcoming
hug and a warm heart.
Family and friends will be
received at the Mark Jutzi Funeral
Home, 291 Huron Street, New
Hamburg on Thursday, Feb. 11 from
12:30 p.m. until the time of the
funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Major
Glenda Davis will officiate. An
interment service will be held at the
Wingham Cemetery in the spring.
It is with deep gratitude that the
family thanks Dr. Stacey Snider and
Zoe McIntosh, the team from the
Community Care Access Centre and
the staff at Sukura House for the
kind and attentive care given to our
mother.
