`For unto you is ;born .this day in: the city of
David, a Saviour ;which is Christ the Lord"'
St.. Luke 211
By
GWENDOLYN MacLEOD WOLFF
In the turmoil • and joy of this Christmas season,
Ami I willing to look down deep for 'the reason
That ;rakes of us selfless, one day in the year,
And shuts out for the moment all aspects of fear.
Am. I' willing to sit down and honestly look
At what I indelibly., wrote in life's book, •
Can• I see the omissions, the meanness 'and lack, . .
Without wishing I . had just one'chance to go ,back.
But
t bause e f the l gift r that the first Christmas brought,
Ibthat
ns there if,,it's. sought.
Arid when it seems surely I have long lost my way,
May I think of .God's gift on that ;first Christmas day,
At ;.each turn of the road may. 11 reach out 'a ,hand
To someone whose ;feet may be mired in deep sand. ;
'And may I havecourage and a real heart to care;
With the, wisdom to sense . the dire need ,that isthere. •
go, . now for the days 'reaching • tfar into • next year,
I .. ask for ,a heart ` that has no cringing,' fear;
But truefaith • that's unselfishly ;ready to face
Both the' joy and ;the sorrow,'" we• meet in life's race.
And may all my values grow in spirit And . grace,
That will ' help me, to give, . where ever the place,
The best of ' the things God has given to me,
Until .I' stand at the brink of ' eternity.

Christmas message a year ago by this .former' `Lucknowite,
and has even deeper, significance this Christmastide, as
Mrs. Wolff's death occurred during. ,:the year:)
