First I might explain ,that in
the bulletin it was' mentioned
that .the hogs shipped to"the Que-
bec plant :were sold from Ripley•.
Fair.
These figures were printed in
a, Hog .Producers Bulletin . April
10th, that only.* selected few get.
to see,' so I' thought. it being. so;
,ridiculous that it should be put
4. in our. local paper: to let all -;`hog
producers see.
First, of all I Might tell' you
that-. last October we were ;:very
unfortunate to ' have." the trailer
turn over;— with—the Ripley -`Fair-
Hogs, and there were twelvehogs'
.dead :'or ,'missing. If Mr. Ackert..
thought at :that time 'his' hogs did
not yield the way ,they ; should
have; -a11 he had to do was in-•
form, the trucker' or. shipper and
he would have been paid/ the' dif-
ference by :the insurance.
Mr. Ackert could have men-
tioned the• Ripley Fair ' .bogs were
loaded,', Saturday,.. and • that I'. load.
hogs •to_..Montreal'from :noon tin -
,til 4.3a p.m:. every • Monday, and
those hog are 'on 'the 'killing
+floor at 8.:0,0 o'clock 'Tuesday.
rnornrn;g which is: as good.ori• bet-
ter' scar vi-ee; -"as"`a hog"`produeer
can get at any other assern"b1y
point not saying anything about
his net'. returns,'
Why did Mr. Ackert pick out
the .Fair hogs to Compare yields;
Perhaps he didn't 'want 'the Hog
Producers' Cobp to.know that he
previously shipped hogs through
the same sh'ippe'r to Montreal on
January 21, March, 25 June 3,.
July
15; July*22; August 12, Aug-
ust 26, ;and I' might mention .on
March ' 25th• shipinent of 21
hogs , he ' had 4 Al, 6 B'1, '9 82,
1 . Lt., 1 Ridg; •
Mr; Ackert was approached af-
ter tills bulletin 'came out to have
a fair test 'case. All he was asked
to do :' was .to,. ship ' 5 hogs each
'way and weigh .on a .scale other::
than. his .Own: or the shipper, also'
that : the 'results'. be published by
this ;paper, . But Mr: Ackert re-
fused, saying, "Well there. ;were
hogs in my Harriston' shipments
`over 200 pounds"
• P.erhapS . I . should • n:ot .be top
