Reeve Joynt reviewed a pro-
gressive year that featured the
development of another water
supply well and paving of more
streets, including the resurfac-
ing of, • Havelock' St. from Rose
to Ludgard, a project that was
undertaken' when it was possible
to do the job at a saving, of over
$1,000 With materials and equip-
ment .available close at hand.
A small deficit on the year's
operation is estimated at less
than $200, and 'this in view of
the fact that the new heating
system in the• Town Hall at a
cost 'in excess of $3,000, had to
be ' paid off, rather than spread.

He was elected to the post by
.acclamation at nomination meet-
ing in the, Township Hail, Rip-
ley, on. Monday afternoon. Ches-
ter is serving his:: third term of
office as Reeve of the township.
Prior to that, he served : 'six
years on council.
Only other nominee, for the
position, • John MacMurchy, who
was defeated in 'an election ,for.
the office last year, .declined to
accept the nomination.
AlfredWalden was elected by
acclamation ` to the . office . of De-
puty -Reeve. This will be Mr.
Walden's.. second ' term having
run an '-election for the : position
last year. He : has four years 'ex
perience • on council prior to his
Deputy -Reeve work. John. Mac-

Although slow in• gathering
the forty ratepayers who did at-
tend didn't ' find it a "quiet"
meeting. There was a good deal
of discussion, and some pointed
remarks about roadwork in the
Township. , . •
A section of road in the north
west portion of the •Township,
between the 14th. Concession and
Highway Nine was the "bone .of
contention." ,
Failure of a fence.'to be mov-
ed on the Melvin Husk farm had
prevented the construction work
from continuing after'. a start,
was.nnade, and' the equipment
