.PARSON'S PEN
In the church, wihere I wor-
ship there is a cloak on the wall
The hands of that clock have
pointed to 12 o'clock for the
Space of at least -several' years..
Each Sunday, the service starts
at 12 '. o'clock..'And ends -at 12
o'clock. Judging. by : that . clock;
time just stands still in •.that
place
"Time marches on" is a -slogan:
that,. is worth meditating upon.,
• For. it is, completely' true. We
cannot live inthe past, and
thereby hold back time •
On a former charge,' I :, can •
remember visiting in a farm •
home "w'here' dwelt ° two sisters
'and a brother. This • fanuly liv-
ed an isolated life. Their'. home
was over a .100 years old, and
filled with furniture of the :same
date. The land was 'not worked.
The feeling came .to me each
time I paid 'a visit was . that 1.
was talking with' people who
were living in another age. Yet
time marched on, and. eventual
.ly • I stood at the ' graveside of
two , of the . members of that
family. •
God's gift • of bine comes to
us moment by moment We can: -
not hoard it, We cannot put it in •
the 'bank., ' We Must use it it as it
comes, to us, moment by mom-
ent._ " .
Don't make the mistake'. of
trying to stop' the clock. You
may delay the, changing times,
but this delay will be only tem-
porary. ' The shape• • of things to
come w. ill not depend upon those
I who •• seek to stop .(the clock. it
will depend upon those who ac
sept each day's' gift of Time and
use it constructively for the wel-
fare
of mankind.
