water, enough to cope. with all
the vegetables I • putin later.
Use a good.. big saucepan -4 use
my aluminum_ top -stove baker,
Let' them simmer away until al-
most tender, about anhour and a
half, or three quarters. Then I
put in all ' sorts of• vegetables,
potatoes, diced carrots, chopped'
onion .or 'onion rings, celery lea-
ves'chopped,, a few small wedges
of cabbage it you like, left=over
vegetables,, like peas or LiMa
beans;, and -at fast,' lots of chop-•
ped parsley. When the' vegetables
are almost cooked; top with
dumplingis. I like to have plenty
of juice' and serve it .in big
soup

Brown the minced beef and oni
ons in a frying pan.. Place . it
over the • rice in the casserole.
Pour' the tin of tomatoes over the
meat, then the package of peas
on top. Salt and .pepper to• taste
and dot with .butter. Bake in

Barbeque:' Sauce --Pour° over
pork chops which-. have been
browned; let simmer till quite
tender., Good • also with roast.

enne , pepper, 3/4 cup barbecue
scauce or .catsup,. 3/4. ' cup water.
I'm ..always finding 'variety in
meat .loaves.. Here is, another
version. ,1', • lbs. hamburger or
ground steak, 1 cup rolled oats,
1 • ,egg,' 4 ' cup ' onion,, chopped
fine, 1 :tsp. sage, salt and pepper
to. taste. (Try seasoned : salt for
these sort of 'things). 'Mix all .to-
getlier and press into. loaf •pan.
Mix the following ingredients
and 'spread • over to of . loaf, 1/4
cup catsup, 3 tbsp. brown sugar,
'1 tsp dry mustard, y4 (scant) ,tsp..
nutmeg. Bake at .350 degrees for
1 hour.. •
