We celebrated our 20th wedding•
anniversary this. week.... Now, a,
20th anniversary seems good
cause for a, celebration,- and • my
idea of a celebration is
having
dinner out, We were keeping this
in • mind while tbeing' occupied
with a million things . at the cot-
tages, painting, carrying . curtains,
blankets,. etc,, Then it . began to`,
rain and put an end to . that, :.
{. It seemed like the ,logical time
to •waxand polish the' floors in
the'house. And so, "Himself" and
I. began,' the job.' The furniture
from hall and dining. room had
.to • be moved into living room
and d
bedroom. •-•- desk bookcase,
tables, chairs etc. etc. This was
to be a thorouijh job and 1 need
a .c'rean. Sweep. Then the cleaning;
and waxing began — about, 600
square feet. That sounds so im-
pressive —• 1 kept telling the
girls, at the • Hospital one day.,
that ,I had washed and varnished
640 square feet of floor space
before, I went on duty • at 3 p.m..
When the..floors were waxed We
'felt that .we • needed coffee .'and,
a snack before we began to 'pol-

of 'this too. Then we .had some

I' We had thought five years
ago that a fifteenth anniversary
ell1n-
a ed fora ' celebration, so a
ce , p
ned on having dinner at the very
nice hotel in town here. The
Sunday School picnic was plan-
ned for that day, and, of course,
John had to gco to that. That was
fine ' we two o alone,• again!!
John had paper route at that
time, and we obligingly promised
to take care of that before our
celebration: The paPers should'
have been in by Ave.:but. didn't
arrive until seven, and • in the
meantime it had begun to rain,
and simply teemed 'down, so that'
we were soaked •:to the' skin by
the ` time -the papers were •deliv-
eked. It didn't. seem like the sort.
evening for a picnic; and so
we went. out to, the •camp to'
wring .home ,some' of the young
sters.•' Supper ' was over in ' the
camp dining' room. We' probably
had a damp sandwich or two,
while we . helPed straighten' up
'the place, , and load the •car with
children. It was ` long past state
dining hours when we got home.
True to anniversary form we had
coffee and a snack,. and hoped
for a more .anniversary -like
versary the next time, We are
still.. hoping - for the' next time:
