The Women's Institute spons-
ored a lovely Daffodil tea in the
Holyrood Hall on Wednesday af-
ternoon in aid of the • Cancer
Society. ' Ladies were present
from PLucknow,• Ripley; Kali. -
Shea, Walkerton, Reids Corners,
Kintlough and . Holyrood. ' Mrs.
Frank Maulden, WW1. presid-
ent, welcomed the ladies in her
pleading . manner and Mrd. W.
Hougham. and Mrs. Nepthel of,
W alkert 'expressed thanks to
the Holy'r d W I. for sponsoring:
the' tea d each spoke ihrielly'
in connection with• the Canadian
Cancer Society and.,what it •does.
in the way of research and assis-
tance that' could • and :would. be
given;, a •,cancer patient if . re-
quested. Each speaker ' was most
interesting. and ;distributed liter
,ature. on cancer, which if deter=
•ted in` its early stages, can in
most, instances be cured. Mrs.
Harold Haldenby and Miss Mar
ilyn Thacker; each favored with.
pleasing • vocal solos.'. Mrs. Tom
Hodgins and Mrs. P. A. Murray
gave. enjoyable • " readings. Mrs.
Morgan Johnston and Mrs. Ray-
nerd Ackert. delighted . the ladies
with a vocal duet.: Mrs. Sam
Farmer. of Holyrood and Mrs:.
Divelle of. Walkerton were 'each,
presented with a .lovely .bouquet
of flowers as ' they, celebrated
;their, . birthdays that day and all

joined in singing "Happy Birth-
day." Mrs, :: James Hodgins , and
Mrs. , Ernest . Ackert, • both life
members of H.W.I.,. presided it
the ,tea table. Mrs..,Harvey Hou-
ston,: and: Miss, Edna Boyle . pre-
sided' at the piano : and ' provided
music throughout the afternoon.
The hall:was nicely, : arranged ,
with baskets of daffodils and
other spring.. flowers, • Mrs.: Jim

ister and. Mrs.: Wm. Eadie Was
receptioiist. Delicious refresh-
ments were.': served by. the'Holy-
rood

quilting a fancy quilt. A 'dainty,
lunch was served by the. hostess.

the. meeting.

A. Murray. Preceeding the meet-
