ROSE 4ARY THYME
I'm not as domestically minded
these days as 1 mostly am. It.
seems to me my` meal planning
has consisted chiefly in planning;
something that John can slip in.
the oven when he Comes. from
school and 'that will be ready to
.,serve in .the dish' it is in, sa as
to save 'dishwashing. ; I've ibeen
back on general ;duty at the hos-
pital, and since it .has' been very
busy; msome. weeks ,I have ,been
' working a full work week, 'And
so, my days off, oh, precious,
precious, are not spent trying out
new recipes on may family, 'abut.
doing an accumulated • wash and
ironing, and a lick -and -polish job
on the house . where it needs it
most.
And so, • John slips a meat ;loaf,
or a •meat pie in the oven, or per-
haps a meat. :and :vegetable cas-
serole, ; or a pan, of .Meat "balls,
and I appreciate .anew the ver-.
satility . 'of the lowly Ihaamburger.
:I find there is " ha end . too the
things " you can do with. it. It
seems to be something thatmy
domestic, ,imagination continues,
to work on. Basically, I start
with '2 eggs, 1 pound hamburger,'.
1 tsp. seasoned salt; 1 cup crumbs,
liquid, from. 1/2. cup to 1 cup and
from, there we,' goWherever my
imagination leads me and, as, far
as the frig offers ingredients.
