dent; occurred ,at her home in
Detroit on Thursday, February
5th, under tragic circumstances'.
She was', beefing a glass of
milk, as was 'her custom, when
her liylonetltesaing gown caught
fire,cauaing fetal third degree
burns. Her: son, who lives in the
downstair 'apartment, made . the
discovery when he investigated
the smell of .sinoke.. .•
• Mrs. Holmes was the former
Edna Taylor, daughter of the
late Mr and Mrs. Wm.:J. Taylor,
of Lucknow : Her father was in
• the grocery business here, and
Was -fire chief for ..a number of
.,years until his 'death.' in 1917.
Edna was ili her 76th year,
,having been born here on May
19th, 1883. She was/of a friendly,
•loveable disposition and made
many friends here, whose num-
bers are growing fewer with the
passing years, as 'death takes its
toll. . , •
Edna's husband, the late Wm
T...'Holipea,-Was in the . produce
business until moving from Luck-
.. 110*.•His. death 'occurred over two
decades ago. His father the late
W..S. Holmes died in '1944. at ,the
age of 101 years. They are buried
in .the Holmes plot in Greenhill
Cemetery: where Edna was laid.

Guelph On Mondayof last week
.for Alexander Kennedy; 25, who
was killed in' a ,plane crash near
