sons, Willie arid Robert who died

Willie Barr.
Hacketts W.M.S. Meeting
• Mrs, ' Wilfred. Hackett, , Presi-
dent, presided at the January
Meeting at the home . of Mrs.
Ralph. Cameron on Tuesday of-
ternoon after two postponements
due to: weather. conditions. There
were. twenty-one, • members and
one visitor.. Roll Call was. ans-
Wed • with payment of dues.
Mrs.. • Alex Hackett, Treasurer,
gave . the • 1958 report, which was
satisfactory. It• was decided to
againraise our allocation by en-
velope giving and to continue the
Birthday Box again this . year.
Mrs. Dynes Campbell read;_ the
scripture. Mrs. Andrew Ritchie
led in prayer. Mrs. Jim. Nelson
gave a reading "The . Neighborly
Man." •Mrs, Kaiser read an

Africari Field: Mrs. Bert. Alton
gave.the last chapter of the Study
Boot on. Japan:: Hymn 254 Was
sung' and then, Mrs. Bert. Alton
president of the W.A. took over
for a W.A. meeting. Mrs. Jim
Nelson, Secretary treasurer, read
several: "Thank -you" cards for
Christmas Cheer • Boxes we had
sent out. Plans for our Fall Baz-
aar were discussed and commit
tees set up. The meeting closed
with Prayer. A dainty lunch was
served. •

MRS. RHIN PURVES
The death of ,Mrs. John Steele
Purves occurred' at her home on
' ,the Second Concession • of Kinloss
On Saturday, January: 24th. She
was seventy-six and shad been • in:.
indifferent. health . for. a 'year and

Purves was the .former
Eliza Barr, daughter : of William
Barr and Margaret Fraser, and
was. born 'oil April 28th 1882 oh
the .Gravel Road, north 'of S.S.
NO; 7, Second. Concession,,
'which she 'attended as , a • girl.
OnMay 2 h, 1904, she married.
John S. •P S, and: as • a bride
todk up ,residence- on. • the .Purves
.farm on the' Second, ;where she
had continued to reside for over
half a century. Herhusband`, who
was at one time widely . known
as • a • thresherman, • 'predeceased
her some eight years ago.
,Purves was of an .affable hospit-
able "nature, and ;a. .good neigh-
