A brand.., new °year is under'
way, we hope yours is complete-
ly filled with ,happiness.
One sure •'way 'of 'bringing joy
to yourself, and others,, is grow-
ing flowers. There are few peo
ple, indeed who do not like or
appreciate floral beauty. It might
well. be then, that • you should re-
solve to 'grow a 'few more. or a
little better this year. Just 'anoth-
er 'toward' step in ,beautification.
Were you ,one. of the fortunate
persons • who received •a potted
plant for Christmas?'. Take good
care of it and enjoy all the de-
lights it it,
bring for • the next
'fe'w weeks and then next year
again.
Just what should .we do• . with
a Poinsettia? The Christmas' fav
ourite does best in a temperature
of 65 to 70 de_ rees. Drafts or
cool: temperatures may cause the
bracts to fall or fade and the bot-
tom leaves may. fall ;off.
Assuming you have • a good.
plant and youwish to'keep it for
another year. After it has bloom-
ed,: rest thea. plant in acool' tom --
tion .
oca-tion. and let : the soil. gradually
dry out, but don't let it dry so
:completely :as to cause the' bark
to shrivel. and .crack. Any time
during this rest period the plant
may 'be cut back'and shaped and
.transferred to a.. larger •pot. Gra-
dually water and bring into good`'
light and' a temperature of about •
70 degrees. You will now•'.•be' able
to 'bring it into bloom' for next,
,Christmas.: I
