to 'announce that Miss Nancy
Curran; was awarded a prize of
ten dollars in 'an ' essay.. competi-
tion sponsored by the Toronto
Star.
Nancy was a Grade 8 pupil of
St. 'Helens School and her tea-
'cher was Mrs;. Jack: Fisher, ' Luck
now. The contest was open to -all
public 'school pupils and the pur-
pose, of the competition • was to
promote ;,conservation of Ontar-
io's native shrubs, flowers' and
trees. Nancy's entry ''won first
,prize from our .local Society and
:was: entitled,.:"The• Lady's Slip-
per
Mrs.:• Are, Courtney: and, Miss
Shirley. Courtney attended :a
shower given in honor of Miss
Sylvia ':Walpole ` which was held'.
at the home of Mrs. Wilson Far-
