Awell-known and highly -re-
spected resident ' of ' Port Elgin,
Dr. .Richard Donald Lane, passed'
away , suddenly at his • residence
on • Thursday, .September ;:22bd.
Cause was attributed to ' heart.
cindition from which he had
suffered for several years.. He
was: 81 years' •of age. •
The late Dr Lane was born:in
Sault Ste. Marie; Ontario, son , of
'the . late John Lane of . Kinlougli
and' Elizabeth, Rutherford Lane
of Lucknow. Since' his -retirement
from.' active' practice, , he had
made his permanent • home in
Port Elgin and prior to that time
was a summer resident 'there' for
'many ears: He , was ' a: member 1.
y,
of Port. Elgin United Church; of
then Rotary Club and of ' 'Grey.
Lodge, :and . A.M. '
Dr. Lane graduated :in medi-
cine from 'Toronto University. in
1910. His ' first • practise was ' in
Pricevilie' andhe later 'Moved '• to
Toronto, whenhe continued to•
practice 'for'. some .40 years until'
retiring in 1955.
He.is survived by his wife, the
former Nellie Campbell,, whom
.he married,in Port Elgin in .1910;

Lane, ;of Fort Erie; , by a daugh-
