Lucknow MURDO MATHESON The death .of Murdo 1VIathe-' son. occurred about •• noon •on, Wednesday . last at. the Chesley. and ' District Memorial Hospital, where he -had been a.tpatient for a few weeks. Mr. Matheson. was in .his 83rd year and • death was due to a cerebral thrombosis;. Murdo waswell and widely known` in this 'district; He was a former. . reeve of Ashfield Township, and always . was, ac- tively. interested and fluently conversant in ;political matters. He- „ an elder• of the Free Presbyterian sbyterian Church at Loch-; alsh, in ' which faith his late brother, Rev., William. • Matheson ministered at Chesley: • Mr. •Matheson at an earlier period was active M the Luck. now Co-op,' and generally Was. interested incommunity affairs. •lie was one of .a family, of fourteen., children ,born to Wm. • Matheson and :Mary Taylor. The result was a soft pink ;•dres- sing, which looked very charm-.. ing with the pale green of let- tuce and dark'green of endive as a foil, & my husband said it was the nicest .salad ;we had had for a Tong' time. . For dessert 'last night we had a big glass plate with raw fruit, just sections of'. grapefruit, *ran-. .ges, bananas, sliced; thickly and dipped in 'fruit ' juice to prevent darkening, small Wedges of pineapple, and: here- :andthere, over the top, those huge' black. grapes—a beautiful colour corn- bination;- The black •.grapes aren't always • obtainable either. Roy MacKay, John MacLeod, 'and Leo Vanderlay.' • Mr. Matheson is survived .by four brothers,, John of, Chesley, Peter of Edmonton,. Farquhar of, Vancouver and .
