Must admit I am fooled each
year. myself. As winter ap-

When the , first Snow fails, and

forward with some eagerness to
those- long. winter evening's:
reading,, writing,• listening to re-
cords; ' . good '. conversation with
good friends by',a cosy fireplace;
pleasant, unhurried days at tke
office, :when business • is slow
and ;the pressure . is off. : '•

of year; h have realized again
that the small town ' is a verit-
able wasps' nest All winter. Life
its a : gay, mad whirl .of bingos,•

hundreds of thousands . of 'people
doing? I have ..a lurking suspic-'.

`these dashing• .city dwellers
spend five or six nights • a week
gawking . ,.at., their idiot • .box . or•
yawnimg over ;the paper before
toddling' off to bed at T1' The
lucky' bums. '
You just" can't get away with
that in' a small town The :pace/

day. Daughter had a birthday
