FIRE UNNOTICED
AS BARN BURNS
A fire of unknown origin com-
pletely; destroyed • a 'small barn,
last Friday night at the rear
of the residence of Mike Hogan,
Bose. Street, and belonging, ;to.
him: The .barn. is situated just
west of the mill' pond.
The barn made a spectacular
blaze whenat its: •pea k. Contents
were limited to . a few gardening
and Personal possessions.
Although many:' in the, neigh-
bourhood noticed the ,glare . from
the fire, it was Lloyd Hall's dog,
barking that finally caused him;

The barn was a complete ',loss
by the time the.. fire department
arrived • on the scene.' and efforts
were ;'directed to' protecting 'other
buildings close -by. The • fire' oc=
curred ,,about" 9:30 pm.
.The fire could be seen for many
miles and :.was noticed by Motor-
ists on , Highway; 86 before ; the
alarm was sounded. ;

Ken Alton of ,: Ashfield :Town

gate score in .the grain and live-
stock judging competitions. in
1960 .and 1961 and has been
awarded a, trip to New York, and
to the United Nations. -
Ken climaxed his performance
at , .the Huron: . County Livestock
judging ' competition at ., Seaforth
on May ,•20th ' .He' will receive. the
trip in the fall and is looking
forward to it. Ken, age 23, is the
son of Mr. arid Mrs. ,Bert Alton;
R.R. 7; Lucknow and has been
active in .4-H and Junior Farmer:
work since: he • was old. enough .to
participate.
