at home. Phlebitis developed
in. • the foot and Mrs. Ritchie
was hospitalized . for : over a
week. She 'will have . a cast on
her ankle fora few weeks.

the observations as a public ser -

Date Back TO 1887
Locally, official weather , re-
cords . have been kept since :1387,
when the 'service was commenced
by Malcolm MacDonald.. His : son
William E. MacDonald succeed-
ed ,hirn
ucceed-ed.,hiin for .16, years and he•was
follewed, by T. J. Salkeld who
performed the 'service for • 12
•years, until Mr. Greer took over
in 1933.
•In the succeeding years he has
never missed sending in a month
ly report, althought it was' delay-
ed on one occasion' when he was
hospitalized. following 'eye sur-
gery.. While ' indisposed a couple
of :times, the records were kept
by his . son, Harold 'Greer and.
by Mr. and Mrs. Jima: Durnin.'

very prolific Christmas cactus.

THAT Mrs. Garnet Henderson
returned 4 home on Tuesday.

Victoria Hospital for over two
weeks after. ` suffering serious
injuries which necessitated,
major surgery. -She ,is getting.
