We feel the editor- • ial column should be. open to, the expires . sion of anyone's/ opinion, and not alone • that of, the publisher.. ` • We personally feel that in a rapidly Changing world, it is inevitable that •cus-' torns and traditions will also change, no matter how commendable they are. The Sunday activities which We now participate • in. would shock our forbears. The ,corn- meicialism of .these Activities is something else again, and while still rejected by public opinion in the smaller .centres, has triade inroads in the cities and is gradually • spreading. A still more open Sunday, sportwise and in the entertainment field is in the offing it seems, whether or not many folk may not seek it. • ... . • • • • • WHY SUNDAY? '• (Contributed). Man 18 an intricate and -mysterious triec amsrn and life is impossible without 'sleep and rest. But the bodyis but the • casket which . contains the mystery and • treasure of the soul, and mind. °Sunday is meant for: a rest and tonic from the round of absorbing tasksand sports. It should be yof worship and service which ele ateasand purifies the 'whole life. Electri- . city can work wonders but it cannot light the pathway to peace. Firecracker use in Luck - now has long been a point of discussion by citizen, old and young. Last year in this • column we referred • to the tragic oc- . .• curTaPces among • children that resulted ,• from the reckless use of firecrackers throughout, ; the province. The matter was discussed at the Business Men's meeting ,las't week' and has. been • discussed the Past .• couple. of yOars, at meetings of • the Luck now Fire Department. Both are in 'agree- ment that .the preseiit reckless use of fir- • crackers in the Village is ,a clanger' to per- sonal safety as well, as being a great, fire • hazard. • Firecrackers were responsible for one minor fire last year in the : village and the way they :are /exploded in alley -ways, • doorways and behind buildings on , main• , street can eventually* 'only result 'in more serious loss. • •• •• We limit ourselves on Sunday to in- • crease our value. As human beings. The 'greatest danger to our western world is that we should forget. that ,character, self control and discipline was the secret which our forefathers gave to the 'world.
