Summer is running past with
the feverish anxiety of a horse-`
player heading for the wicket
with a hot, tip.
• We've had , so, many visitors.

spent more time in.
the 'supermarket and the liquor

house. However, it hasn't .been_

alarm -clock; one pairdark glass-

one pair lady's, pants. In addition

ten •from our . latest batch,

Our daughter.,;has been to
camp for the first time in ..her

crises to . keep things lively.
/She's been talking. canip since
last winter., And one day in
April, she name home from
school, and, blared; "Do you know
what I am. Mom? just a
freak±"` Her mother absentmind-
edly asked why.:. "Because
can't ride a bike and I've never
been to camp!"" she snorted, Ap-
parently these are status, symbols
in the pre -teen set, just as •frac-
ture-lboards in twin beds are for
the pre-middleaged set.
Well, she got a bike for her
birthday, and now has' been. to
'camp, so it's nice to report that.

I'd neglected to include' several
days of hotel accommodation,
the convention fees, new clothes
for the gang, and board : at the
vet's. for one cat, oriekitten, one
dog, Right :now, it', looks :as
though' the :big deal this :sumimer.

lurching "from one "set :of • rel-
atives • to another, ,for ,sieepini
quarters. .
Even that, as I know perfectly
:well, will fall through, because
one of the 'kids Will get sick,'
or the old ,car will, develop the
heaves, .""or the . 61d Battleaxe
will get in one of 'her' . moods.
However, it's nice to have the
whole crew—dog, 'eats and kids,
-under one roof again, after a
mixed: -up . summer, and ff. I can
manage ,to sneak away for •a
whole day's .fishing, , without
having to take anybody, or be
home sharp at six for dinner,
1'll reckon I've ' had a. pretty;
good' summer vacation.
