The first school in Huron. Twp.
was a log school at Pine River,''
built in 1855. S.S. Nos. 2 and • 3
were built in 1:81516 or soon after
.The first; schoolhouse in. No.
3 was .also a log structure. built
on the 20th sideroad, and was.
attended 'by students from,. 5, to
20 years from a considerable area
from the 9'th to 12th concessions.
The log school was replaced
by a frameschool, which was.
painted' red: to really—earn the
title of the little red schoolhouse.
It .served until 18494.asthe centre

was ;moved' to. Ripley to serve
as a• . blackaniibh shop and was
replaced by a brick school on,
