east of the Lucknow-Dungannon
road
Mrs.. Watson. was awakened
from her sleep by the sound of
:breaking glass. After, firstthinking it wastheir dog, she•
investigatedand found • 'flames
licking up the iback wall of
their home. Notifying,' Rae,, an
alarm was turned in 'to' the
Lucknow• Fire; Department.`
When firemen . arrived at the.
scene; : the entire' north 'wall . ad
joining', a. glassed -in sun porch•
was on lire: The •. house .' is
,bricked with; the exceptionof
• the area Where the porch was
attached, ,:and . this , frame wall prior .to the .fire..
and working . i't's way onto the
roof. Rae fought the fire' with.
water• and an extinguisher until
the fire truck arrived. • . '
Firemen, using water on the
fire ' truck, succeeded in check-
ing . the—blaze in. a matter of
minutes. .Another • fewminutes:
start and likely. • ,the damage
would have been more serious'
and the house perhaps would
have been destroyed. •
The -fire originated :• inthe
porch housing a food` freezer &
some .clothing. It. is bel'ieved that
defective wiring. started the fire.
