refuse fire had got beyond con-

direction,' just to the east of the
Hogan : buildings. ` Flames were
leaping four or five feet in the
air in places:; Firemen, using the
water supply 'on the truck, Made
the circle of the fire .ring. and
iicceeded in extinguishing the
,outbreak. The last 'few feet had
to be , tramped out as the water
supply on the, truck became ex
