of West Wawanosh, which have
been in. the same family' for a
century or. more, have proven
quite interesting. . •
There are numerous. farms
Ashfield, ,Huron, Kinloss and
West Wawanosh 'still operated by
descendants of pioneer forbears,
for ' as many as five or six ge
erations, • ,
These. histories. are interesting
and worth , • preserving in .. print:.
This' is not: alone ' our • opinion., as,
is indicated by the following let-
ter from a Toronto. resident, and
formerly • `of' the Dungannon . dis-
triet who Writes under the.'
pseudonym "The Country Mouse."

In the last issue .of: the Signal
Star, .they. reprinted 'an' article
from' your paper • about West
Wawanosh farms which are. still
owned by the same families • after
a century. ' .
Charles Crirvin and Alexander
Pentland were mentioned ins: con
nection .with. Township work in
the later 1800's. `Wilfred Pentland.
at Dungannon is still bn ,the farm
to which .his grandfather, •Alex
ander .received the crown deed
on "this.' eighth,day.of 'Septem-
ber .in the year of '•Our '•fiord, ' one
.thous.end ' eight hundred. and
forty-five." And .1 might add for
the sum of forty pounds!
Wilfred got his deed to the -farm.
exactly one 'hundred' years later
in October of ' 1945 ., Beside:: 'his'
farm. .it 50: acres• belonging to.
T. C. Anderson, whose grandfa
ther ; came to Huron • County, at
the "same time. The Girvins 'came.
to Nile also ,at that time and
Harry': Girvin • owns the farm
which was. owned by• a ;Girvin.
;in '1879 'and was. probably "bought
'much:..earlier. .The •Finnigan • on
the 4th of West Wawanosh came
abou.'t, ..that :time. too . ';and. • some
are still On: old. 'Finnigan , farms.

The Lions cane out on top of
the 'Kangaroos 3 to 1. Freda Er-
