in the rectory on Wednesday, No,
vember • 11th. Mrs. .Cyril ; Boyle,.
.convener of the bake sale dona-
tion, reported'` an increase in con-
tributions . to this fund. " ' Members
were . urged to. have their aprons
or articles: of sewing prepared for
the' ,next meeting; . December 1st,
in order that . their, value.' will be
'of a profitable aid, with the . ap-
proaching of the . Christmas sea-
son. Father: Caruana has prepared
thelittle children of St Augustine:
and St. Mary's, Lucknow, for their
.First Holy Communion on'Sun-
-day,

which' an . enjoyable lunch . was
served by hostesses Mrs. Cyril
Boyle', and Mrs. Gus ,Redmond.

Mrs. Ernest Gaunt is enjoying
a` two-day expense -free :trip to the'.
Royal' -Winter . , Fair ' in. Toronto
this Nast; week Mrs. Gaunt was
chosen for her work in '4-H clubs
as : an.: assistant` leader.

joyed a ` bountiful Pot:' Luck Supper
in the hall on, . Saturday evening..

his trip to Western'' Canada and up

Mrs: Andrew Gaunt came home
on Saturday from Wingham and
District "Hospital after being there
for overfive weeks .as ' a patient.

Annie A. MacKay -
Annie Annabella MacKay, a
resident of Lucknow and Kinloss
Township foal/her entire liferpass-
ed away in Wingham Hospital on
Wednesday, . November 4tl>;. She re-
rcently observed her 89th birthday
on September 22nd..
Annie was born on' the MacKay
farm ' on the second concession: of
Kinloss Townshippresently owned
by Herb McQuillin.. She was the
daughter of Hugh ,MacKay and
Catherine . Kerr, and was one of.
a family of nine, Six • of the fam-
ily' were' born in Lucknow, and
three, after the family moved •to:
the second in 1873. • ,
Hugh MacKay operated the first
bracksmith'shop in Lucknow prior
to " moving to: the Kinloss farm..
A -native of Glasgow; he came
to reside at.: Lucknow after the
founding . of the village.
Annie, in common with • seven
others -in the MacKay family;
never married. Alex was the on-
ly member of the family to wed,'
Annie lived with, her brothers : and"
sisters at 'the Kinloss farm atop
the : hill, Her mother .died in 1897,
her. father' in 1901; brothers and
a sister passed on, David in. 1909;
Maggie 1920, Hughie , 1930, Dan
19.40, Johnnie ' 1948, Angus 1950,
Alex '1960 The, only ,survivor of
the. family is a , sister' Miss:. Jessie
MacKay who resides in ' the home
on Gough Street' in Lucknow which
they purchased in 1949 upon sell-
ing the farm. Jessie- recently ob-
served her . 97th. birthday.
Sisters Jessie' and, • Annie have
lived .together continuously since
1922 ' when •'Jessie. ' returned from
the . United States following the
death of . a sister. In early years
they ` lived with, *other members of
the family, but since; the death of
.brother ,Angus :in 1950, the =two
sisters had: been together.. For. the,
past year.. and. a . half, Mrs.' Wil-
liam MacIntyre •has been with .the
MacKay sisters as .a . companion.
Annie underwent an amputation of
her leg about four years„ ago= and.
has since 'been confined to a
wheel. chair.
Annie was 'a faithful ' member
o f South ; Kinloss Presbyterian
Church and. a <life member of the
W.M.S. She taught Sunday' School'
there in earlier • '. years,. She was
a member •of Kairshea ;Women's
Institute up until . the time of her
death ': ;Annie was ” a good friend
to' many. Her years •in'' Kinloss
and Lucknow had gained respect ' ••
for her as:' a .. good' neighbour, a
person interested in ,the: welfare
of others •and a • citizen of the ,
community who was flyways in-
terested in community betterment.

cardiae Hospital, We are pleased
to report that. Mrs, Johnston is
showing some improvement after
suffering a severe stroke several
weeks ago..
